How to calibrate your sprayer

Preparation and inspection

Before starting the calibration process, thoroughly clean the farm sprayers and inspect the sprayer for wear and damage, promptly replace any worn or damaged parts to ensure correct calibration results, and check all hoses and nozzles and fittings for leaks or clogs. And using chemicals in the calibration process is wasteful and potentially harmful, so the tank should be filled with clean water.

Measuring nozzle output

First set the farm sprayers to the normal working pressure, place a collection container under each nozzle, collect the spray within a predetermined time, and measure the volume of each nozzle collection, and compare it with the manufacturer's specifications, if the difference is more than 10%, the nozzle should be cleaned or replaced in time.

Computational application rate

To determine the rate of application, you need to know the output of the farm sprayers and the area covered during application. Measure the width and distance of your spray pattern traveling at your normal operating speed in one minute. These measurements are used to calculate the area covered per minute. The total output of the nozzle per minute is divided by the area covered to determine the application rate of gallons per acre. Compare this rate to the target application rate and adjust the sprayer Settings accordingly.
